INTRODUCTION

       Hello everyone, my name is Charlie Gordon. I am a 33 year old male working in "Donner's Bakery". Unfortunately I've been continuously living with a disability called Phenylketonuria. My parents abandoned me when I was young, however, I didn't have any memories of them until I received an experimental surgery performed by the scientists from Beekman University. You might be unfamiliar with the term "Experimental Surgery". Since I had a disease called Phenylketonuria, I had an IQ of merely 68. At the same time, the scientists were inventing a procedure for those who are struggling with extremely low IQ. I was chosen for this particularly to increase my intelligence, and this has majorly changed my life.

Life Changing Events

 Experimental Surgery on my Brain

    As I already mentioned, I went through an experimental surgery that would increase my intelligence. This surgery had potential to TRIPLE my IQ. This neurosurgery stimulates my brain centers as well as increases my functions and ability to learn.

    Fortunately, the surgery was successfully carried out, and due to this, I reached an IQ of 180. 

    To be honest, I didn't choose to take the surgery. I was not smart enough to decide or even think clearly for myself. Come to think of it now, this surgery was extremely dangerous, because it's basically opening up your skull in order to operate on your brain. I realize now that the risk was not worth taking.

IQ = 68~180

    I also felt like a celebrity within Beekman University. I was the first man alive to get the surgery, and everyone looked at me every time I walked on the hallway.

Where Am I?

New York City to Chicago...

    I moved to Chicago temporarily in order to attend the science conventions. As I mentioned earlier, many scientists from across North America were interested in me after I've successfully tripled my IQ. 

    The science convention was very tedious. I felt as though everyone was judging me while taking pictures and writing notes about me.

I moved back to a small apartment in New York City

    This was my new apartment to resident myself. I was considering if I should live in Chicago, but New York felt like my home. 

    After I got smarter, I had to live on my own without the professor's help. I've been traveling to so many places, but the only place that I found comfortable was New York.

    I met this girl named Fay who lives next door. She is a free spirit who lives without any concerns. She was extremely nice to me, but I had a feeling that she started to like me as a man which made me very uncomfortable.

Beekman University is an average school, but it feels like my second house. I went there every single day to track my progress regarding the surgery. Professors and students treated me like a brother from another mother. 😊

   I went to the Central Park Concert with my friend Alice. Ever since I got smarter, I started to feel the vibe of a certain music. This was my first time going to a concert. Starting that day, going to a concert became my dearest hobby.

Opening my Own Bakery

    As I already mentioned, I worked quite a long time in "Donner's Bakery". I learned a lot about baking from my boss, Mr. Donner. Mr. Donner once suggested me to start my own bakery rather than learning same things over and over in his 50 year old bakery. I want to give happiness to others by making some fabulous breads.

My Advice

    The most important piece of advice that I want to provide to my young readers is to find meaning in your life. I want them to find their dream or something that they are passionate about. When I survived the surgery that boosted my IQ to 180, I felt like I knew everything in this world. However, the only thing that I did not know was my dream and ambition. I was outstanding intelligence-wise, but I didn't know how to use it or when to use it. I was wandering around the world, traveling from place to place that gave me nothing. When I was struggling to live in this world, my friend Gimpy came up to me and suggested to learn more about baking. Before the surgery, I really enjoyed baking; however, I gave up due to the surgery. When I went back to "Donner's Bakery", my boss, Donner was there welcoming me, and we started to bake together right away. Instead of another dreadful feeling, it gave me a small portion of joy while I was baking, and that's when I realize that my true happiness and passion comes from baking. I want to advise or warn every one of my blog readers to figure out what happiness means to you, and what makes you happy.

Expository Paragraph

            Character Blog of Charlie Gordon is a blog post created based on the novel, Flowers for Algernon. I created this blog with significant details of the character, Charlie Gordon. The contents of the blog provide lots of stories from the book such as Charlie’s experience with the important changes that had been made in his life. I included a blog post related to Charlie’s experimental surgery as his important life event, or I added a story of him and his girlfriend going to a music concert. I am confident that most of the contents of this blog are related to the novel. The images I included are also relevant to the novel. I used an AI image generator to create an imaginary Charlie Gordon or other characters and places. For example, I inserted an image of Charlie Gordon sitting in a hospital after the surgery which was also one of the scenes in the novel. The images that were existing in this world were searched on Google. The style of the blog doesn’t relate to the novel, but I made it in organized way to expose Charlie’s personality of neatness. I also formed the last part of the blog related to the theme of this novel. There were multiple themes throughout the novel, but the main theme that I came up with was identity and knowing what your dream and ambition are depending on what kind of identity you have. I chose this theme to make a post regarding dreams and futures and advice for younger people. I thought it was important to include the post to let people know who Charlie Gordon is, and how he is living his life.
